Iceland Family Vacations – Black Pearl Reykjavik

With a reputation for being one of the safest and friendliest places on Earth, Iceland is the natural choice for an unforgettable family vacation.
For such a small place, Iceland offers a surprisingly wide variety of activities and you are sure to find something for the whole family.

Popular attractions for a family vacation in Iceland

The most popular attractions, such as the Blue Lagoon or the breathtaking Golden Circle, are perfect choices for Iceland family tours and can be booked as either part of a group, or independently if you are travelling with a rental car or prefer private tours.

You can also enjoy one of the many indoor and outdoor geothermal pools that are popular amongst locals and are open all year long. Your children will love the water slides and shallow pools, whilst you relax in the bubbling hot tubs and end your visit by going to a steam bath.

Popular activities with children in Iceland

Another family favourite is searching for whales and dolphins. Join a whale watching tour starting from the Old Harbor, located just 5 minutes from Black Pearl. You might also spot many birds, including the cute and colourful puffins on the tour or you can choose to book a puffin tour by itself. If the seas are rough and the tour does not go ahead, don’t worry; you can always see the magnificent whales in the nearby whale exhibition that presents life-size models of different species.

If you are still up for some more adventure, don’t miss the opportunity to take your children to a show at Iceland’s only Planetarium or put on some warmer clothes and visit the ice cave with real snow and frozen tunnels at Perlan.

Around in the city, many other museums such as The Settlement Exhibition, the Aurora Reykjavík or the Reykjavik Art Museum, will be sure to delight you and your children on your Iceland family holiday.

Family-friendly activies in Greater Reykjavik

There are also many family-friendly activities in the Greater Reykjavík area. Why not visit the Árbæjarsafn open-air museum, where you can see some of the oldest houses in Reykjavík and learn about how Icelanders lived in the past, or perhaps spend the day relaxing and barbequing at the Nauthólsvík beach or visit the Grótta lighthouse area ideal for bird watching and cycling. On a nice summer day you could stroll through the Botanic Garden or stop by the Reykjavík Park and Zoo.
